We are really proud of our new rating in the Eichelmann wine guide 2023. With four stars, we can now describe ourselves as an "outstanding winery".
Here is an excerpt from this year's assessment: "We're making progress here, especially with Riesling, the top quality has increased in recent years. And the basis is right, as shown by the estate wines, the fresh, gripping Riesling and the spicy, haunting Pinot Gris, which has freshness, clear fruit, good structure and grip. We see the two white wines of the S line at the same time, the Chardonnay shows good concentration and pure fruit in a wonderfully penetrating bouquet, is full-bodied, juicy, has ripe fruit and substance, the cuvée of Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay shows slightly smoky notes, is clear and fresh, harmonious and gripping with a good structure. Significantly more wood and more concentration come into play with the white wines of the Reserve line, whereby the wood is not dominant as in some previous vintages. The Weißburgunder R is concentrated, clear, full-bodied and juicy, has a lot of ripe fruit and substance, structure and freshness. The Chardonnay R is currently more clearly characterized by the wood, shows smoky-spicy notes, has fullness, power and substance. The two single-vineyard Rieslings are very exciting: the Geyersberg Riesling has a wonderfully large bouquet of fruit, yellow fruits, is full-bodied and juicy, the wine from the Herrenberg is wonderfully penetrating and spicy, in the mouth mineral, full-bodied, needs time. The four red wines presented are all from the 2019 vintage. The Merlot R shows notes of spices and ripe fruit in the bouquet, is full-bodied, juicy, very compact and has clear fruit. The Cabernet Sauvignon R has a pure bouquet, shows some floral notes, cassis, has fullness and power, good structure, lots of grip and tannins. Our favorite among the red reserve wines is the Syrah, which shows peppery notes, is wonderfully penetrating, concentrated and pure, has a lot of substance and freshness and a fine chocolate note. At the same time we see the Pinot Noir from the Hasensprung, which shows good concentration, smoky notes, some heart cherries and vanilla, is full-bodied and juicy, has a lot of ripe fruit, structure and freshness. Great collection!''
